We cordially invite you to an interesting event; put it in your calendar – we will take a look at “VRTky” – high-speed rail lines in the Czech Republic: the state of preparation, outlook, and in general everything related to the development of these lines.
Trains have already been running for 25 years at a maximum of 160 km/h on 933 km of lines. There are the first sections for 200 km/h (Votice – towards Tábor and one more, a total of 26 km). But within ten years there are to be “VRTky”, designed for a standard 250 km/h and up to 320 km/h at peak. And that is not so far away… We found the topic interesting, so we arranged it. More details about VRT can be found here: VRTky.cz
High-speed rail lines (VRT) represent a project to modernize the transport infrastructure in the Czech Republic. Trains with speeds of up to 320 km/h will bring a new level of mobility, shorten travel times, and support more even regional development. VRT will become part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and will significantly contribute to increasing competitiveness and quality of life throughout the country.
What was still recently a vision is becoming reality. High-speed rail lines will open up new possibilities for work, education, and life outside large cities. They will bring more time, more accessible opportunities, and a modern way of travelling that will move the Czech Republic into a new transport era.
The construction of high-speed rail lines is one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the history of the Czech Republic. Integration into the TEN-T network, an operating speed of up to 320 km/h, and the shortening of travel times between key centres will contribute to economic development, better regional accessibility, and more environmentally friendly transport.
Who is behind all this:
Martin Švehlík, Deputy for Development, High-Speed Rail Construction Administration (SS VRT)
Martin Švehlík has been working at the Railway Administration since 2013 and has long been involved in the development of high-speed rail in the Czech Republic. He has participated in the preparation of the high-speed rail concept – from the development of the first studies and strategic documents to specific project plans.
He is currently responsible at the High-Speed Rail Construction Administration for ensuring the development of the VRT network in terms of compliance with the principles of sustainable development, the provision of spatial data, and the coordination of activities in the fields of architecture and urbanism. At the same time, he is involved in communication and negotiations on projects with the public and other partners.

He gained professional experience at the Railway Authority and at the Development Department of the Capital City of Prague.
We look forward to seeing you! Admission is free for members, for other guests there is a fee. Registration in advance is required. Thank you. MUDr. Petr Šedivý, Chairman of the Board of Venture Club z.s.
