Old Wastewater Treatment Plant in Bubeneč

During a summer holiday event, we visited the old wastewater treatment plant in Bubeneč, a technical monument dating from 1906. Today, there is already a new one next to it on Císařský Island, but the sewer system is still in service. The clinker bricks hold firm, as if they were not over 120 years old. You can see the old technology, the first and second underground levels, tanks, a steam engine, the boiler room, and even take a ride around the sedimentation tanks. Some innovations endure for centuries.
