Successful Exit: The Biogas Plant in Velké Meziříčí Is Being Acquired by the innogy Group

When talking about venture investments, most people imagine joining a startup.

But good investments can also look completely different.

One of them was the biogas plant project in Velké Meziříčí, which Venture Club entered as a minority investor two years ago. Today, its next chapter is moving forward – the project was acquired by Energo BMS, which is part of the innogy energy group.

For Venture Club, this is another successfully concluded investment and at the same time confirmation that active work with the project makes sense.

Investment does not end with the signing of the contract

At Venture Club, we do not see investment as a one-time provision of capital.

Our goal is to help projects grow, seek new opportunities and be a partner of management and other investors. In recent years, further development of the project, new energy use options and the potential for biomethane production have been discussed for the biogas plant.

Part of this work also included finding a strategic investor who will be able to move the project to the next phase.

This is what we believe creates real value.

"The sale is the result of long-term work, patience and the ability to recognize when the project has reached a stage in which further growth can best be ensured by a strong strategic partner. Among other things, it is important for Venture Club that the project continues under the Innogy group, which can open up further development opportunities."

Every investment has its own story

The biogas plant project shows another important thing.

Interesting investment opportunities do not only arise in technology startups.

Energy projects or real assets can also have the same potential, if they are based on long-term trends and make economic sense.

But it is equally important to know when the right moment comes to hand over the project to a stronger partner.

"Every investment has its own development and time horizon. For the project in Velké Meziříčí, it was important to remain patient, actively work on its further direction, and seek a solution that will meet the long-term interests of the investors involved. The interest of a major energy player confirms that the project has further development potential in the future."

What this investment brought to investors

The sale of the project brought an appreciation of the funds of the Venture Club members who participated in the investment.

  • investment horizon approximately 2 years,
  • the sale price was not disclosed, the settlement for investors exceeds the usual yields of bonds, funds or real estate, of course,
  • the payment of the first part of the funds has already taken place, the second part was deposited by the buyer in the bank and will be released after the building permit is issued,
  • the project was taken over by a strategic investor from the innogy group.

Individual investors will receive detailed information according to the way they entered the project. The financial terms of the transaction between the seller and the buyer remain undisclosed.

Venture Club seeks value across sectors

This transaction confirms the investment philosophy of Venture Club.

In addition to technology startups, we also look for projects from the energy, industry or other sectors that have long-term growth potential. We are not only concerned with making an investment, but also with actively working with the portfolio and finding the right moment for its further development or successful exit.
